iOS 13 Compatibility: Which Apple Devices will be Compatible with the Next generation OS?

iOS 13 Compatibility: Apple is likely to announce the first beta version of iOS 13 at the WWDC 2019 which is expected to take place in June 2019. This is also the time when we get to check out the latest iteration of the mobile operating system from Apple. The WWDC 2018 event gave us a fair dose of what new features the new operating system is expected to bring. The same can be expected with the Apple iOS 13 next year as well as Apple usually provides a good preview of the new changes and upgrades at the annual event held in June every year. However, in this specific article we will only be concentrating on the devices which we think will be compatible with iOS 13.

iOS 13 Compatible Devices (Full List included)

Talking of iOS 13 compatibility, it would be a good idea to know whether your Apple device will be compatible with the upcoming mobile operating system so that you can download the first beta update as soon as it is made available by Apple. While it would be a bit difficult to predict exactly which devices will be supported as the launch is still months away, we have a fair idea about it following the trend of Apple since the last few years.

There is rumor is the market that iOS 13 will take a big leap ahead, and will create a history in the mobile operating system zone. Thus it is fair to assume that all the devices won’t be compatible with iOS 13, and Apple will scrap almost all the older or non-updated devices from updating to its latest OS. Keeping that in mind we have tried to predict all the iOS 13 supported devices in this article. We hope you will like our effort. Let’s get started!

iOS 13 Compatibility: List of All Supported Devices

Although we are still months away from iOS 13 release, many users have already started to inquire whether their Apple devices will be compatible with the upcoming next-generation OS or they will have to upgrade to a new device to run the software. Since Apple has already stated that it is focusing more on bringing stability and performance improvements rather than new features in the iOS 13, we can expect all devices currently compatible with the iOS 12 to be able to support iOS 13 as well.

List of iOS 13 Compatible iPhones

Since Apple has already stopped supporting 32-bit applications from iOS 11 onwards, it is very certain that any Apple device which does not support 64-bit apps (iPhone 5c and lower) will not be compatible with iOS 13. Here is the complete list

  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 5S

NOTE: Although we have included iPhone 5s in the list, it is still not clear whether it will be compatible with the upcoming iteration of Apple OS. So if you are still using the iPhone 5s, consider upgrading to a higher model at the earliest.

List of iOS 13 Compatible iPads

Coming to the iPad models, all the devices starting with iPad Mini 2 and higher are expected to be compatible with iOS 13. Since the iPad Mini 2 is powered by an A7 chip and supports 64-bit applications, it should be compatible with the next generation operating system. Here is the complete list:

  • iPad 6th Generation
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad 5th Generation
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch Second Generation
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch First Generation
  • iPad Mini 4
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Mini 3
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Mini 2

List of iOS 13 Compatible iPods

Unfortunately, there is one iPod model that will be compatible with the iOS 13 as none of the other models support 64-bit applications. The list includes the iPod Touch 6th which is powered by an A8 chipset which is a 64-bit ARM-based system.

  • iPod Touch Sixth Generation

iOS 13 Compatibility: Full Support or Limited Features

One think you must consider before upgrading your devices to iOS 13 is that you may not be able to enjoy all the iOS 13 features in your device even if it is listed above as the iOS 13 compatible. Apple has a tendency to limit some features related to processing power and hardware capabilities to some of its old devices in order to provide exclusivity to its latest models.

We are not yet officially informed about the iOS 13 features or which of the features that will be exclusive to the latest Apple devices only. But, if we closely look at the iOS 12 trend, then we can see that that mobile operating system restricted some of the coolest features like the ARKit (one that brings the Augmented Reality think into mainstream), TrueDepth Camera (that levels up the mobile imaging scene to a new level) and FaceID (exclusive to iPhone X only) only to most advanced devices like iPhone 6S or above of the Apple ecosystem.

If you are, by any means, interested in knowing the probable iOS 14 Compatibility list, then you can read from here.

Wrap Up

Well, by now you should have got a fair idea about which devices are likely to be compatible with the upcoming iOS 13. If you are still using an older generation Apple device which is not compatible, consider upgrading to any higher model by referring to the iOS 13 compatibility list above to enjoy all the new features the next generation OS is expected to bring. This list may also get updated in the coming months so you can bookmark this page for later use if you wish.

Apple iOS 13 Beta: What is it?

Before the actual stable release of a new iteration of Apple’s flagship OS every year, the company releases several beta versions of the OS to perfect the platform for both app developers and the general public. While in the earlier years, Apple only released developer bet versions of its OS, it has decided to roll out public beta versions as well in the last couple of years. So with the iOS 13, Apple is expected to follow the same routine and release the iOS 13 beta versions for both developers and the public to acquire feedback about possible bugs and issues that it needs to address.

iOS 13 Beta: When is it Coming?

The next version of the operating system reportedly caused a lot of buzz among the iPhone users as different rumoured features such as the introduction of dark mode, cross-platform availability between Mac and iOS and many more are expected to be the highlights of the next version of iOS namely iOS 13. Although nothing is confirmed by the developers at Apple, the curiosity among the users has reached its peak. With the prediction of the announcement of the next version of the iOS release during the WWDC event, the beta version of the operating system is predicted to release in early June 2019 for paid Apple developers and at a later date of the same month among the public.

In order to earn a chance to download the latest beta version of the next operating system, Apple launched the service of Apple Software program which allows the users of the Apple products to register on the website and allows them to enjoy the benefits of the next version of the operating system prior to the release which would still be the beta version. People are reportedly allowed to test the features and stability of the latest version of the iOS and provide feedback.

The beta version of the iOS 13 is predicted to release in June which would consist of the most famous of the features demanded by the iPhone users which would turn out to be the introduction of a dark mode which sounds really stylish to use in an iPhone. Cross-platform is the next second biggest rumoured feature which would allow the cross-platform between Mac and iOS. Beta users would be allowed to use these features and are expected to test them out and provide constant updates to Apple on how to improve the overall quality of the operating system. Apple expects the users to report the different kinds of bugs faced by the users while using the operating system. They also tend to expect the user to test out the stability of the operating system.

If you do not know how to download and install the beta version, follow the simple steps by step guide posted below.
